Niso Celebon Behar Nissim Aragon was born in Edirne, in the Ottoman Empire, on March 17, 1897 to Celebon Behar Nissim and Rahila Aragon, both Ottomans. He married a woman named Victoria. Aragon was Managing Director of the Surrey Trading Company, Ship Brokers, a company of insurance brokers and merchants. He was also a Director of Armement Anversois Société Anonyme. He had acquired residence in Belgium when the Nazis invaded in May 1940. Aragon escaped to England, where he settled in Flat 22 at Gateway, Surbiton Hill Road, Surbiton, Surrey, England. When he applied for citizenship, he identified himself as a Turkish national. He was naturalized on March 6, 1948. The National Archives of the United Kingdom does not preserve his naturalization application. A man named Ernest Aragon, who was a 22-year-old law student and possibly Niso’s son, was also naturalized in March 1948.
