            Yousouf Azmi was born in Jerusalem on April 3, 1892 to Ahmed Sherif and Zehide Sherif, née Ismael, a Palestinian citizen. At the time of his naturalization in 1958 he identified his nationality as uncertain and his late parents as a Turkish national and a Palestinian citizen, respectively. He was a merchant living in Larnaca, Cyprus. His Muslim religious heritage his inferred from the parents’ details. His naturalization file does not survive.
