Krikor Armen Gorgodian

HO 334/256/3804

Krikor Armen Gorgodian was born in Istanbul on February 24, 1910 to Armen Gorgodian (born 1884). The identity of his mother is pending documentation retrieval. Krikor’s parents, sister, and brother all “perished during the atrocities of 1915.” He was rescued and raised in an orphanage. He graduated from the American University of Beirut and joined the British Army in Rangoon as the dental surgeon of their regiment. He was naturalized a British subject on June 21, 1946 while residing in Burma. The following year, he was discharged and came to London. He married Anahid Sarafian (a.k.a. Sarafyan), a Turkish citizen, on February 7, 1950. At that time, his only remaining relation was a lone “old aunt” in Beirut. A quiet man, he recounted his family’s fate in brief to his future wife during their courtship. She discusses him in her memoir of 2003.[1]
